Preamble

My wanderlust has awoken.

I have embraced this urge to discover new horizons and soon I will be setting off on my adventure…escaping the British winter and into the unknown. I’m looking forward to the discovery of new places and people which travelling brings and the inspiration that will surely flow…

I am currently occupied with completing commissions before I leave…Pyrographing a clock, a set of Celtic tree Oghams on cherry, Palo Santo rune necklaces, plus I will be photographing a wedding two days before my departure date. I am also busy providing holistic therapies for clients…if anyone wishes to book in before I leave then get in touch soon. Otherwise, I shall return in the new year, so drop me a line via the contact form and I will see you then.

I intend to update observations, thoughts, feelings & details of my travels here, along with photographs taken along the way. I will mention now at the outset that it may read disjointedly; that if you’re the sort of person that appreciates ordered, structured writing then this may not be for you, because I often just don’t think that way. When I am writing as I think stream-of-consciousness style it may be rambling…you have been warned!

I often make notes about stuff, recording what has happened, feelings, things I want to remember even in everyday life, and always keep a journal when travelling, yet this will be the first time I have ever written anything public. So this will indeed be an interesting challenge, a new adventure for me as much as my physical, geographical one. If anyone has read ‘The Artist’s Way’ by Julia Cameron they will be familiar with the morning pages…where the intention is to write 3 pages every morning, on anything, can be as inane or creative as you like…so long as you write. This may well end up my version of that. Just to declare at the beginning that it may not always be riveting reading, edge-of-you-seat adventure – hopefully some of it will be – but the rest might just be what I had for breakfast and what I can see out of the window….

So as the countdown of days begins, the more I am looking forward to living out of a rucksack again and waking up to new noises and sights and smells. The challenges and rewards that come with leaving behind the familiar and realising that wherever you are, you are home.
